ISTEDIL is an institution of science and technology, covering the broad
fields of civil engineering.
Presentation
and History
1939: it
is created, in Rome, the National Institute for Testing and Study of
Materials for Constructions Industry. Years '40,
'50 e '60: reduction of activities due to the war; property goes to ANCE (Natioanal
Association of Civil Constructors); increase of equipments and library. 1954:
publication of the Handbook for Reinforced Concrete Design (it
remained a referring document for years). 1960: a
laboratory for testing materials opens in Roma-Montesacro; it's managed
directly by ANCE. The experimental activity begins. 1972:
Institute
becomes a company with share capital (62% ANCE e 38% Local Constructors
Associations); new research center and laboratory opens in Guidonia, just
outside Rome. All the research, testing and certification
activities begin.
Years '70
e '80: Istedil is the first company authorized by Italian Ministry for testing materials
regarding to Italian Law n°1086/71; Institute is accounted in the High
Qualified Laboratories list, regarding to Italian Law n°46/82 and it is authorized for CEE and CE Certifications; Institute joins UNI and RILEM;
three new laboratories open in Perugia, Latina and Sassari (Sardinia).
1992:
new capital sharing: 50% ISMES (Enel.Hydro), 31% ANCE e 19% Local
Constructors Associations
1994:
Institute adopts a Quality System, based on UNI CEI EN 45001. 2001:
Institute's Quality System upgrades on UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025. 2005:
Enel.Hydro
sell all its Istedil's capital to CESI (Italian Electrotechnical Experimental
Center). 2006:
Institute's Quality System
is certified UNI EN ISO 9001.
Mission
Istedil
aims to support building firms to assure Quality and Security in conformity
to market requirements. To proceed with such a
claim, the Institute:

works on
various research projects, directly and as third party, in Italy and the
rest of the World, joining foreign companies and organizations; -
as third
party, take on design, studies and tests on civil structures and
foundation grounds, product technical tests for conformity assessment,
ambient system evaluation and certification;

manage professional
activities, conferences and seminars organization, technical and
scientific publications

perform
products,
equipments and machinaries certification, quality system evaluation and
certification
-
realize
and develop scientific equipments and laboratories;

as quality
system consultant, helps design studios and workshops, materials producers and
construction companies to develop their qs.
